    Description

René Lalique's glory is largely due to his talent for represent animals and he became world-famous with his series of nine life-size "Moineaux" (Sparrows).  His depiction of animals began, however a few years earlier:
From 1925 is a pin-dish called "Dindon" (Turkey), which comes here in an Amber-Yellow color. This was part of a series which began it all that year, and which included a rabbit, a mouse and a duck. The dimensions are 12 cm (4 3/4") in width and 7.5 cm (3" in height. It was made in several colors: this amber-yellow, green, burgundy, smoke-grey, clear and opalescent.  The signature is "R Lalique" in script under the base (photo8). It was only produced  and sold between 1925 and 1936.
"Dindon" is photographed and described (photo 9) in Felix Marcilhac's large book (the unofficial Lalique "Bible"), on page 272 of the 2010 French printing under reference 287. The caption clarifies that it was removed from the Lalique Catalogue of 1937 and never re-introduced later. The signature  is R Lalique France"  in script under the base (photo 8).
